Biography:
Dr. Maristela Peckle Peixoto graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro (2010). Experience in animal parasitology, animal clinical pathology, parasitic diseases, and molecular biology. M.Sc. (2013) and Ph.D. (2017) in Veterinary Sciences from the Postgraduate Program in Veterinary Sciences (UFRRJ). Sandwich Doctorate at the Canadian Food and Inspection Agency (CFIA-Canada) in 2016. Post-doc at the Department of Animal Parasitology (UFRRJ) for two years (2017-2018). She is currently a Professor at the Department of Animal Parasitology at the UFRRJ. Work on blood parasites and vectors of health importance, focusing on ticks, piroplasms, and obligate intracellular bacteria that cause diseases such as rickettsiae.
