Alemayehu Bekele Kassahun

Biography:

Alemayehu Bekele Kassahun is a distinguished public health expert with extensive experience spanning academia and the healthcare system of Ethiopia. He currently serves as an Associate Researcher at the Collaborative Research and Training Center for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) at Arba Minch University, focusing his research on skin-related NTDs.

Driven by a mission to bridge epidemiological data with grassroots implementation, Alemayehu is the Founder and Executive Director of the Maderettos Integrated Health Development Organization (MIHDO). Through MIHDO, he works to ensure that individuals with stigmatizing skin conditions live with dignity, inclusion, opportunity, and sustainable health equity nationwide.

Globally connected, he serves on the WHO Skin NTD Working Group, the Global Mycetoma Working Group, and the International Noma Network. Regionally, he drives civic leadership as Secretary for the Ethiopian Public Health Association (South Regional Chapter) and Communication Director for the Rotary Club of Arba Minch.
