Biography:
Husna Khamis is a nurse, global health advocate, and youth leader with extensive experience
in Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) and HIV prevention, treatment,
and care. She is deeply committed to advancing equitable, inclusive, and youth-responsive
health systems, particularly for young people and marginalized populations.
Professionally, Husna provides HIV treatment and prevention services to people living with
HIV, contributing directly to improved health outcomes, continuity of care, and stigma
reduction at the community level. Her clinical background strengthens her advocacy work.
allowing her to bridge policy, programming, and real-world health service delivery.
Husna currently serves as Program Manager at the Tanzania Sexual and Reproductive Health Association.
Health Forum (TSRHF), where she plays a key role in coordinating national SRHR advocacy
initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and youth-centered programming. In this role, she
supports policy dialogue, capacity building, and evidence-based advocacy aimed at improving
access to quality SRHR services, including comprehensive sexuality education and HIV
services.
In addition, Husna is a Zonal Focal Point and Youth Representative on SRH and HIV in
Tanzania with DARE for Progress Organization, where she represents youth perspectives
in national and regional platforms. She actively contributes to youth-led movements that
promote human rights, gender equality, and meaningful youth participation in health decision-making processes.
Husna is particularly passionate about youth empowerment, ending stigma and
discrimination, and ensuring that health services are accessible, safe, and youth-friendly.
She leverages advocacy, media engagement, community dialogue, and strategic
partnerships to amplify youth voices and influence positive social and policy change. Her
work emphasizes inclusive approaches that recognize the diverse needs of adolescents and
young people, including young women, people living with HIV, and other vulnerable groups.
Through her leadership, technical expertise, and dedication, Husna Khamis continues to
contribute significantly to strengthening SRHR and HIV responses in Tanzania, while inspiring
youth leadership and advancing rights-based, people-centered health systems.
