Biography:
Dr. Ibrahim Isa hails from Futudu, Michika Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Nigeria. He is an early career researcher with a focus on Vector Borne Infectious Diseases with special interest and skills in Public Health Entomology, Parasitology, and Arboviruses. He obtained his B.Sc. Degree in 2009 from the Department of Zoology, Adamawa State University, Mubi, M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in 2014 and 2022 respectively from the Department of Zoology, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He was part of the Student exchange programme, at the laboratory for Virus Research, University of Bremen, Germany, 2020. He started his career as a Post Primary School Management, Board as Biology teacher between 2012-2017. He joined the Services of ABU, Zaria as an Assistant Lecturer in 2017 and currently a Lecturer I. Also an e-tutor at Distance Learning Centre, Programme, ABU, Zaria, where he teaches Basic Epidemiology to students of Public Health.
Dr. Isa, served as Principal Investigator for Institutional Based Research (IBR) TETFUND grants in 2022. He participated in the Validation of Black Fly Habitats for Simulium damnosum sl modeling project in Nigeria in 2022. He has also received grants for bench work from Erasmus plus and Africa Centre of Excellence for Neglected Tropical Diseases and Forensic Biotechnology (ACENTDFB) in 2019. Beneficiary of Federal Government Scholarship in 2018. Dr. Isa is one of the recipients of the prize for best poster presentation at the 2023, PPSN conference. He also won and Early Career Grants from Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene on the project: “Entomological Assessment of vector of Onchocerciasis after Mass Drug Administration in Hard-to- Reach Endemic Communities of Kaduna State, Nigeria”.
He participated in Staff Development Programmes such as capacity building training on black fly entomology, UniOsun BMGF project in 2023 and survey in research on Neglected Tropical Diseases: Project design, planning, sampling and documentation in 2020. Dr. Isa was appointed as Member, representing Faculty of Life Sciences at University Library Committee in 2023 and Senate member, representing Faculty of Life Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, from 2023 to date. He succeeded in securing a Memorandum of Understanding for international cooperation between the Fundação Oswaldo Cruz in Brazil and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 2022.
He is a member of Science Association of Nigeria and Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria and Royal Society for Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (RSTMH). He has to his credit published papers in reputable Journals and Conference Papers. He is happily married and blessed with four children.
