Majani Edward

Biography:

Dr. Majani Edward is a distinguished global public health researcher, editor, and leader with over five years of experience advancing research, policy, and community-based initiatives across Africa and beyond. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications in health systems, infectious disease epidemiology, and health diplomacy, demonstrating his commitment to evidence-driven solutions.

He currently serves as a Head of Research and Training Unit at Department of Research and Innovation, MacWish College of Health and Allied Sciences and Research Scientist at the Center for Reforms, Innovation, Health Policies and Implementation Research (CeRIHI) and Managing Editor of the Journal of Infectious Disease Policy and Reviewing Editor of Springer Nature Editorial Academy. He is also a former Guest Editor and Associate Editor at the Journal of Public Health Research (SAGE Publishing), where he leads special collections on Mpox epidemiology in Sub Saharan Africa.

Beyond academia, Dr. Majani is deeply committed to leadership and capacity building in global health. He has served as Chief of Party for youth-led research programs under the Youth Health Action Network, facilitating high-impact workshops, research training, and capacity-building initiatives. Through these efforts, he has mentored more than 200 early-career researchers globally, supporting the development of the next generation of public health leaders.

His contributions to global health leadership have earned him recognition through prestigious programs and awards, including the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Fellowship, the Michigan Fellows Africa Initiative, and the Ntuli Kapologwe Primary Health Care Award.

Driven by a passion for impact, Dr. Majani is committed to strengthening resilient health systems, advancing health equity, and translating research into policy and practice across Africa and the global health community.
