Dr. Bahauddeen Alrfaei

Biography:

Dr. Bahauddeen Alrfaei began his academic journey by earning a Bachelor degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from King Saud University. Later, earned a Master’s degree in Bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he focused on enzyme kinetics. He continued his education at the same institution and obtained his PhD in Cellular and Molecular Pathology in 2013, specializing in cancer and normal stem cells with a particular emphasis on epigenetics.
After completing his doctoral studies, Dr. Alrfaei pursued a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University in 2014, where he specialized in the genomics and molecular characterization of glioblastoma stem cells.
Currently, he serves as a Lead Scientist and Senior Research Scientist at the Blood and Cancer Research Department and the Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Unit at King Abdullah International Research Center (KAIMRC). In this role, he acts as a principal investigator on several funded research projects and has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Alrfaei's expertise extends to consulting for the Saudi FDA, contributing to various academic programs, and serving as a reviewer for multiple academic journals. He is also actively involved in several local and international committees. His research interests encompass neurological diseases, oncology, and stem cell biology.
